Good to know

What to expect at Cosmos

We are a small studio! We try to keep operating costs low and instructor pay competitive while keeping classes affordable.

Visiting the studio

Where are you located?

1306 S Willow St, Chattanooga, TN 37404.

When are you open?

We are a small studio. We open 15 minutes before each class and lock the doors 5 minutes after class has started, so please arrive a little early. Outside of class times our hours vary; you can always email us or DM us on Instagram to reach us.

Where can I park?

There is free street parking on 13th, 14th and Kelly St. Please do not park behind our building in our small lot. That is for residents and our staff.

Is there somewhere to lock up my bike?

Yes. There is a bike rack in front of our building, and you are also welcome to lock your bike to our fence in the back parking lot. We are hoping to add another bike rack soon!

Classes

What if I have never tried yoga before?

Perfect! We would love to be your yoga home, whether that is for one class or the start of a new practice. Our teachers will guide you and leave plenty of room for choice and challenge.

What’s the difference between slow flow (hatha), vinyasa, yin and restorative?

Hatha (slow flow). A traditional, slower-paced style focused on physical postures (asanas) and breathing (pranayama). The practice is slow and steady, and poses are usually held for several breaths. These classes are great for beginners who want time to learn proper alignment and build a strong foundation, and for people who like the challenge of slow, steady holds.

Vinyasa. A dynamic, flowing style that links continuous movement with the breath. This class will get your heart rate up. It is more active and athletic, moving smoothly from one posture to the next, and is ideal if you are looking for a cardiovascular workout, stamina and strength building. Still beginner friendly, but faster paced.

Yin. A slow, passive practice targeting deep connective tissues, ligaments and joints. The pace is very slow, with mostly floor-based postures held for a long time (typically 2 to 5 minutes or more) with relaxed muscles. Great for improving flexibility, joint mobility and post-workout recovery.

Restorative. A deeply relaxing practice that uses heavy support from props like bolsters, blankets and blocks. Extremely still and passive. Poses are held for extended periods so the body is completely supported. Ideal for stress relief and injury recovery.

Do you offer heated classes?

No. Our classes are typically somewhere between 74 and 80 degrees, depending on the instructor.

Will you ever add heated classes?

We don’t know. So far, the feedback has been that people really enjoy having a space dedicated to non-heated classes.

Do you have a shower?

No. Because our classes aren’t heated, you can likely go on about your day without one. We won’t judge you.

Do I need to bring my own mat?

You are welcome to bring your own mat! If you don’t have one, we have mats to rent for $2. Mat rental is free if you walk or bike to class!

Booking & cancellations

How do I book a class?

On our website (see Classes) or directly in the Mindbody app. If you have any issues or questions, email us or DM us on Instagram and we will help you.

What is your late cancellation policy?

A late cancellation is canceling within 1 hour of the class start time. Late cancellations and no-shows are treated the same:

  • Class packs (5 or 10 classes): you forfeit one class.
  • Drop-in and walk-in bookings: non-refundable.
  • Unlimited members: an $8 fee.
Why do you charge for late cancellations and no-shows?

Because we still pay our instructors for being here, and we value their time and dedication. Without their knowledge and commitment, we are just a building!

Why is a class I saw earlier today now canceled?

We will cancel a class if nobody has signed up by about 2 hours before it starts (the exact time frame depends on the teacher). This respects our teachers’ time and keeps operating costs low.

If you see a class you know you want to come to, sign up! That way we know you are coming and class will go on as scheduled. We won’t cancel a class that has sign-ups unless the instructor has an illness or emergency and no substitute could be found. We always update our website and Mindbody with cancellations, so check there if you have not signed up.

Memberships & more

I’m moving :( How do I cancel my membership?

Annual memberships are a 12-month commitment. To cancel before the 12 months are up, we need 30 days’ written notice, and there is a one-time cancellation fee equal to one month’s membership. After the first 12 months you can cancel with 30 days’ written notice and no fee. Just email us.

Do you offer private lessons, or can I rent your space?

We do! Email us or DM us on Instagram and let us know what dates, times and instructors you are looking for.

Why can’t I call you?

We used to list a phone number, but the amount of spam calls was outrageous and overwhelming. We are happy to call or text you: just email us or DM us on Instagram and say you’d like a call or text back.

Still have a question? Email us or DM us on Instagram.
